I wonder what happens if you move abroad once naturalisation application and biometrics have been submitted as spouse of BC.
Can the applicant just come back, do the ceremony and go back or are there residence requirements even after submission of naturalisation?

You can do that. Spouse of Brits are not conditioned to "intent to continually reside in the UK".
