Travel insurance for dubai visit?

Post by dewdrops1420 » Wed Jan 31, 2024 1:39 pm

Hi,

I'm travelling to Dubai for 3 day holiday and would like to know if I need a travel insurance or not?
Is it mandatory?
I'm a British citizen so I can get on arrival 96 hrs visa but my husband and son are on ILR so was wondering if any of us need mandatory travel insurance or not?

Thanks.

Not an expert on Dubai but it’s important you have travel insurance when travelling abroad (including EU).
Not mandatory but risky without.
If you need treatment and are not entitled to anything then you are expected to pay. And if repatriation is required that is normally very expensive. With insurance at least you could recoup some of the expenses.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

As mentioned by alterhase58 in the other post, these are not immigration related queries, you are better off asking in specialised forums.

But since its asked here now, travel medical insurance for UAE is mandatory for applying for visa. You being a British national will get an entry stamp on arrival without a visa, so don't technically need the insurance. Your family's case will depend on whether they need to apply for ETA or visa.

Note that only travel medical insurance is mandatory, not the full travel insurance against all eventualities.
