Skilled Worker visa extension

Post by ska_abbas » Tue Dec 19, 2023 10:12 am

Morning everyone,

My Skilled Worker visa is due for extention next year and I needed some direction from you.

Current CoS issued until - 1 Aug 2024
Current BRP issued until - 15 Aug 2024

1 - Should my new CoS start from 2 Aug 2024 or 16 Aug 2024. If it is later, would this gap cause any concern at the time of ILR?
2 - How soon can I apply for extension? is it 60 days?
3 - I arrived in the UK on 15 Nov 2021 and expect to complete 5 years by 15 Nov 2026. Should the new CoS be until 15 Nov 2026 or should I reqeust employer for additional couple of weeks to be on the safe side?

Thanks

CoS date - SW extension

Post by ska_abbas » Thu Jan 25, 2024 3:25 pm

Hi,

I am due to apply for SW visa extension later this year. Just had two questions:

Date on CoS
Current BRP expires on 15 Aug 2024, so I assume the new CoS should start from 16 Aug, correct? My current CoS was issued until 1 Aug 2024, however, BRP had 2 extra weeks on it.

How soon can I apply for extension. I can't find anything on Gov.UK, however, some websites mentioned earliest is 60 days.

Thanks

Can I please ask any of the senior and experienced members to comment on this?

CR001, Zimba, Vinny, Frontier Mole, AmazonianX or anybody else please?

You can apply for a Skilled Worker visa extension 60 days before the expiry of your current visa.
The COS is valid for 3 months, so it should not be assigned too early to ensure it covers to the date of application.

Thanks, and what should be the start date for the new CoS?
My current CoS was issued till 1 Aug 2024, however BRP expiry date is 15 Aug 2024, I pressume the new CoS should start from 16 Aug, instead of 2 Aug???

Please confirm, thanks

A start date of either is fine.

Either date is fine so if you choose the date you have in mind still means OK.
