waiting for naturalisation after ILR + British husband

Post by Anuar » Sat Feb 17, 2024 1:53 pm

Dear Friends,

I am a British citizen since 2023. My wife very recently got your ILR (via Tier 1 Talent dependant route). What period should she wait to apply for naturalisation?

In my case, it was 1 year after obtaining ILR status, but I was told her situation is different, because of my British citizenship.

Thank you in advance.

No waiting period for spouse of BC. Can apply now.

Thank you for your reply. Indeed, I was told in that thread that "no need to wait 12 months". I thought that maybe there was a shorter qualification period for this case.

As the spouse of a British citizen, her application is based on 3 years residence. She must have been physically present in the UK 3 years prior to the date of application and must meet the 270 days max absence in the 3 years and the standard 90 days in the last 12 months.

Not sure what else you are expecting. Your question in this topic isn't clear on what you are confused about. The 12 month wait or not waiting is separate to the 3 year residence period if applying as a spouse of a British citizen.

This information is ALL available on the UKVI website.

Thank you for the clarification.
After alterhase58 replied that we don't need to wait - everything was clear for me. Then alterhase58 asked me this: Why are you asking again???. As I understand, it was not a rhetorical question - so I clarified my question here about the waiting period.

Now, regarding "Not sure what else you are expecting" - At this stage - absolutely nothing. You guys helped me a lot and I am truly thankful.
