Will Salary threshold rise effect me?

Post by tokyodrift » Tue Feb 20, 2024 2:44 am

As the minimum salary threshold will rise from £26,200 to £38,700 on April 4th, if I find a job in March and apply to switch from Graduate visa to Skilled Worker visa, the application decision could take up to 8 weeks, so what if I receive the decision after the threshold increase is implemented i.e. after 4th April?

The date that matters is the COS assignment date as that sets the rules in play for the migrant visa application.

Right right...

Let's assume I get the job on March 21st.

I assume it will take a week to issue COS, I receive the COS from the company On March 28th.

The COS specifies that the employment start date is April 1st.

I apply for a visa on March 29th, and it arrives 7 to 8 weeks later, in mid-May.

Does this indicate that until I have the visa, I won't be able to start the job, despite the fact that the COS says it starts on April 1?

Until the visa is granted you are unable to work for the sponsor HOWEVER - you retain the right to work under your current visa, so you can work for the number of hours your current visa allows.
