HSMP - Extension under Tier 1(Main+Dep) -- Few Doubts...

Post by abhijack » Sun Dec 28, 2008 2:45 pm

Doubts regarding home office reference number:

regarding my HO reference number:
1. i have a reference number on initial hsmp approval letter..
2. another reference number in the home office letter when passport was endorsed..
3. a different work permit number starting with HSMP on the above letter.
4. a different number starting with UK on top right hand corner of hsmp visa stamped in passport.

not sure which one to put... any ideas?

in my spouse's dep visa there is:
1. a 9 digit red fonted number on top rt hand corner
2. another VAF no: ..

any ideas which one to use as reference number?

Doubt regarding previous earnings claim:

my payslip shows the following figures...

1.taxable pay
2.non taxable pay
3.total payments (1+2)
4.total deductions
5.net pay (3-4)

should i add all taxable pays (i.e 1) or total payments (i.e 3) to calculate my earnings in order to claim points?

and net pay (5) is shown in bank statements..hope this wouldnt be a problem too?

Also as we all know P60 wont cover the entire claim period.. I think the guidance doesnt make it mandatory.. But some say its important to send it..

plz advise....

Doubt regarding points for qualification:

Section S.1 , page 45 on tier 1 Main applicant form..

Grade: are they looking for PASS there? couldnt find the same qn in pts calculator..

Sorry for asking too many questions...

Any suggestions will be very much appreciated..

Hi Abhijack,

See my take on your Queries:

1) Doubts regarding home office reference number:
I would use HSMP Ref. No. as HSMP#123456 for main Applicant.
Don't know about dependant.

2) Doubt regarding previous earnings claim:
You should use your gross earnings (before tax) for calculating points.
I think, all of the Income is Taxable, so really don;t know what sort of non-taxable income you are referring to.

Althought P60, will not cover your full claim period you can still send it, that should not do any harm to your application.

3) Doubt regarding points for qualification:
I think you are required to write whatever grade you passed your qualification, be it, Pass/Second/First Class etc.

Hope this is of some help.

You can not include any non-taxable income like mileage expenses/ food expenses etc.. because it is not your regular income and more over it is just a form of re-imbursement of the actual expenses you made out of your pocket.

I think there is a reference to it in the Policy Guidance(see Para. 111)

You can not claim reimbursements however some items though non-taxable are permitted to be included in the Earnings. Gross Income is different from taxable income due to some incentives.

If your taxable income is sufficient for meeting the earning points, go ahead and use it.

taxable income is more than enough..
but i was cincerned whether they will add the total income and find discrepancy..

i will add the taxable income as that will be the lesser amount..

any suggestions on my other queries mate?

On other points I agree with nnj10. Where they have asked for HO reference no go for the one which came along the HSMP approval. In cases where they ask for the reference number to be picked up from VISA it should be the numbers in Red (VAF is VISA Application Form Number). Same applies for dependents too. They have all records for you and your dependents so they can easily look up at their systems - you can be a bit relaxed about it.

You can make a note of that effect in your cover letter (that you have used a lower figure and excluded all reimbursements from the Gross Earnings calculations).
