Planning to visit Austria for a week but travelling via Munich, my trip will be like

Fly from Manchester to Munich
Stay in Munich for the weekend
Drive to Austria (Saalbach) on Monday
Drive back to Munich on Friday
Fly back from Munich to Manchester on Friday

Do I need to apply Schengen visa for Germany or Austria?

Hi,

If you're from a visa required country to EU, it's best to apply for a schengen visa from the German representative in your country of residence since most of your entries will be in Germany. Just make sure you add Austria to your destinations so they don't issue you a national visa limited to only Germany.
