FLR FP 10 year route to ILR (Apply to settle in the UK – Private Life)

Post by hussain1988 » Wed Nov 15, 2023 9:57 pm

Just to double check Is this the right form I apply for called Apply to settle in the UK – Private Life as my wife will apply in 2026.

As usual do I apply with in 28 days of her visa expiring as this states in her current decision letter.

Wait closer to the time, 2026 is still a way off.

Thanks but I was double checking if it was the write form in advance so I apply when the time comes.

Just dont want apply on the wrong form as there is many ILR form depending on the route you was on I always read snd double check i know this is the right form but sometimes its good to ask if you have slight doubt

Im just asking in advance rather then asking near the time so this helps the form may change I don't think it will change cause If they made one ILR form for everyone rather then corresponding to the visa you was on so they will have to do more checking where it might take longer time knowing which visa you was on cause you applied on the on the right ILR form so they can cross check that with the Visa you had makes it more simple.

FLR(FP) grants leave under multiple routes, are you under the private life route?
After 10 years of continuous lawful residence, you can either apply under the private life route or the long residence route, the choice is yours.

You have been granted permission to stay in the United Kingdom (UK) under
the Immigration Rules for Family Member as a partner on the 10-year route to
settlement.

I will apply for under private life then thanks for mergeing the thread to my question I made.

I dont know what I would of done without Immigration boards I really appreciate the help many people give here you learn something and can give advice back from own experience or just helping out. we are just some ordinary people helping each other.

You should apply either using SET(M) settlement adult relative form or SET(LR), not private life !

Set M Form says Use a different form if you have spent 10 years with permission to qualify for settlement.

Do not use this form if:

your current leave to remain is as a partner or parent on the 10 year family route. This means you have had permission to stay in the UK for at least 10 years. Applications for settlement on that route will open on 20 June 2022 when the new ‘Settlement as a partner or parent’ and ‘Settlement as a child (including a child aged over 18 already in the UK as a dependent)’ forms will be available on the gov.uk website

So definitely not Set M.

Set LR says

You may be able to apply for indefinite leave to remain if you’ve been in the UK legally for 10 continuous years (known as ‘long residence’).

Indefinite leave to remain is how you settle in the UK. It’s also called ‘settlement’. It gives you the right to live, work and study here for as long as you like, and apply for benefits if you’re eligible. You can use it to apply for British citizenship.

Which one form I fill in shes on FLR FP 10 years partner route has to be long residency

You are correct, I always forget the form changes for the 10-year family route.
Apply here: https://visas-immigration.service.gov.u ... t-relative

SET(LR) can also be used regardless of the visa route you are on and can be used as long as you have 10 years (aka ILR under long residence)

The choice is yours

There will be minimal docs needed. Passports, BRP, LIUK and proof of English language
