My husband will hopefully become Irish in the coming months and, on receiving his certificate of naturalization, will apply for his first passport.
In preparation, I’ve been looking at the list of supporting documents required for someone in his situation (naturalised Irish citizen, living abroad).
After the birth certificate, the list says « Original Civil marriage or Civil Partnership certificate (if applying for a passport in your married name). »
His name has remained unchanged since birth, ie his married name is the same as the one he was born with.
Does he need to submit his marriage certificate?
Common sense would suggest not.
