Free child care - 15 hours per week

Post by Mallu_Desi » Wed Feb 28, 2024 12:30 am

Hi all,

I am a British citizen and my wife is Indian citizen with limited leave to remain (expiring on March 2026). She has been in the UK for three years and hopefully she will be qualifying for ILR by March 2026. Currently she cant claim any public funds and it has written than in her BRP card.

We both work in the NHS and I get paid around £52000 (including overtime) and she gets paid around £28000.

We have a baby together born on 26 May 2022 and we are exploring child care options for her.

Recently I came across with this free child care option (15 hours in a week for two years old from April 2024) if both parents are working full time.

Is this type of child care considered as public funds and is it going to affect my wife’s subsequent immigration applications.

Thank you very much.

It’s not a public fund and you can apply for free childcare.

You are British, so not subject to immigration control.
