Indian minor's Indian passport validity

Hello All,

Can you help me with my current scenario

- I received mt British Citizenship in Octover 2023 and got my British passport a few weeks ago.
- I was trying to apply for renunciation of Indian citizenship and saw a pop up saying that any minor children will lose indian citizenship if either of the parents lose/renounce indian citizenship
- My daughter is still on ILR and we need to travel to India in July 2024.
- Can my daughter legitimately use her Indian passport for entry into India as she too has lost indian citienship given that I have lost mine. Even if I do not formally renounce indian citizenship woulds she have problems using indian passport ?

Why don't you apply for eVisa and go without renouncing. Once she has her UK passport, you all can renounce together.

Using Indian passport will incur penalty of £160 per instance. Here they will count it as two, once for entry to India and again for exit. So cost wise, its better option for eVisa for you for now.

Thanks Bashir. ITd a bit wierd that until you formally renounce children's passports are also valid, though inr eality once loses Indian citizenship upon acquiring a BC.

Anyway my daughter is eligible to apply for BC as well, I did not apply as the timelines were tight for my planned travel to India in July. However now I have decided to try to BC for her and get a eVisa for her.

I will continue with OCI route. Worst case I will end up applying for evisa for myself as well.

Can you pls help me / suggest other options? I am not selling any service or any lawyers services..
My kids are not eligible for BC. The Indian govt website says they are stiped off their Indian citizenship.
The consulate / embassy / Ministry / Indian passport office is not replying to my queries.
How can I get in touch with other people in my situation and find a solution?
