This is from royal mail's website re courier/signed for deliveries to a PO box:
What kind of mail can be sent to my PO Box?
Most types of mail can be sent to your Royal Mail PO Box but we will not accept mail from other carriers or couriers. Also, any mail that is ‘Do not redirect’ will be returned to the sender.
How long will you keep my mail for?
You'll need to collect your mail regularly. If you don't collect it for a month we may contact you. If you don't collect it for three consecutive months without getting in touch with us beforehand, we may cancel your box.
Recorded Signed Forâ„¢ items need to be collected within seven days, and Special Deliveryâ„¢ mail within three weeks, otherwise we'll return them to the sender. Mail from couriers won't be accepted into your PO Box unless the full postage has been paid.
What if mail has to be signed for?
If anything has to be signed or paid for, we'll leave an advice card in your PO Box.
So - Special Delivery/ Signed for deliveries can be sent to a PO box
