2 years or 3 years visa???

Post by Muzzy14 » Tue Dec 30, 2008 9:40 am

Dear All,

I have got my Tier-1 (General) Migrant visa stamped for 2 years (I had HSMP Approval letter). Is it normal? I thought it should be for 3 years.
I now that it used to be 2 years visa for HSMP, but when they invent Tier break down with additional maintenance fund it went to 3 years, isn't it?

Maybe I am not well informed about procedure, please advise.

Regards,
Muzzy

It may be because you were applying with a valid HSMP letter that you were given 2 years instead of 3?

Is it stated somewhere in Home office website so I can rely on that information to check back to HO?
Would you suggest me to speak to Local British Emabssy before to speak to HO?

Regards
Muzzy

I would check directly with the Home Office/Border & Immigration agency.

I did call to British Embassy in home country and they said that nothing is wrong, you are due for 2 years visa because you were applying with HSMP Approval Letter.

Thanks to all for your replies and advices.
Take care & Happy New Year.

no mate, am sure HSMP in the later(last) stages was issued with 3+2 years. You can find evidence on this forum if you search this years Jan to Mar threads. All those who applied got 3 yrs for sure before HSMP moved to Tier1.

My HSMP Letter was approved in 20-Apr-08. In transitional arrangement it says:
Applications for entry clearance under HSMP made in any country other than India before [30 June 2008] will be decided in accordance with the immigration rules that were in force on 29 June 2008 even if the decision is reached after that date.
Does that mean I still due for 3 years, not 2?
In AppendixD nothing about 3 years visa, unless "Extension of stay as a Highly Skilled Migrant". But I am not extending, I am getting my first visa.

Please correct me if I am wrong.
Regards,
Muzzy
