unmarried partner's visa

Post by tanya_cz » Thu Jan 01, 2009 9:14 pm

hello,
I am from belarus. i am in relationship with my partner who is british
(not married) and we have child who is also born in uk (age 1 1/2 ).

I have been getting visitor visas for nearly 3 years now.
My last 1 year visitor visa runs out in Feb09, i am going to apply for
unmarried partner's visa when i return to Belarus.

I am wondering how long should i apply for visa for?
2 or more years or what?

any useful advice/help appreciated

Have you been living together for a minimum of 2 years with documents to prove this? You won't be able to switch to an Unmarried Partners visa from visitor visa from within the UK.
When you apply for your UPV in Belarus you will be applying for a 2 year visa.

How do I qualify to join my unmarried or same-sex partner in the UK? wrote:At first, you will be allowed to stay and work in the UK for two years. Near the end of this time, if you are still partners and intend to continue living together, you can apply to stay permanently in the UK.

How long have you lived in the UK? i.e., with your visitor's visa, how long did you stay, and when did you leave the UK. Do you have any documents (letters, etc) proving your stay in the country?
