OCI without Surrendered passport. HELP

Hi,

I have surrender my Indian Passport in year 2013 and obtained surrender certificate no renunciation certificate ( I believe it was not required at that time). I have acquired British Citizenship.

My question is I want to apply for OCI now but have misplaced/lost my surrendered Indian passport. I do have surrendered certificate.

Can someone please guide me what can I do to obtain OCI.

You need to renounce your india citizen first. I hope you can do with your surrender certificate.
After Renunciation you can apply for OCI.

She doesn't even have copy of her old surrendered passport. I have emailed HCI but they don't give straight answer. One of the requirement is to submit passport copy.

You can provide surrender certificate or school certificate or nativity certificate, RC will take longer if you don't provide passport, otherwise they will affect other forms of evidence.
