Approval letter

Post by peace23 » Mon Apr 22, 2024 10:25 am

Does anyone know if they are sending approval through emails or by post now?

Which approval letter are you referring to? Naturalisation? They send the final decision letter through the post.

Yes I mean the final decision thanks. I just thought that they might moved to emails like the acknowledgement letters and so then I don't have to check my post everyday:)

I think they do them online now?

My wife got the approval as a letter in December. Payment acknowledgment and payment processed after that were emails. Maybe its changed since.

Side question, but has anyone here noticed that naturalisation approval letters have seemingly stopped? I haven't seen anyone posting or commenting here with any approval letter dates in some time (e.g. in the 2021/2022/2023 timelines). I'm unsure if there are less users here/people aren't updating, but I have been on this forum for several years keeping an eye on the timelines and this is a notable drop off in approvals.

My theory is that they work in phases...get a certain number of applications processed up to being approved, move on to the next thing. They then get formally approved at some point...letters prepared in batches and sent out in the period before next ceremony. As far as i can see (from this forum) certificates for Feb ceremony haven't been sent out yet. I imagine we will start seeing new approval letters at some point after those certificates have been sent out.

Yes. So nobody who did their vetting in Feb March or April has got the approval yet. One of my friend who applied for naturalisation in December got request for evetting last week. I think they are trying to finish all of 2023 application evetting and then they will start sending approval in bulk.

Same here. The decision letter was by post in December, but everything else, including my invitation to the February ceremony was electronic.

I would imagine something as important as a decision letter will still come by physical post for some time.

Very likely they work in batches based on when people post updates here.

It’s 8 weeks and counting to receive my certificate from the February ceremony. It’s unbelievable.

I'm not sure how I feel about the way they're moving now. We haven't heard anything new about the approval letters or emails, and applicants who were at the ceremony on Feb 26 still don't have their certificates. This worries me a lot because they sent me an email saying I would definitely be at the next ceremony. Naturalisation ceremonies for 6,000 people happen every June and, those who got naturalised on Feb 26 haven't received their certificates yet, it won't be possible to get them any faster in June.

Also, has anyone heard anything or gotten an email from the Citizenship dept? The comms are sent out every quarter (at least this was the case last yer), but I haven't gotten anything from them yet. I'm not sure if they take the approved applicants off the comms list... I hope they change how certs are given out at the next ceremony. It doesn't make sense to wait after becoming a citizen!!

"We will send you an email advising you of the Minister’s proposal to grant you a Certificate of Naturalisation subject to the completion of the naturalisation process."

"This page was last updated on April 18, 2024"

I was curious so I went to the Department of Justice website "Become an Irish citizen by naturalisation" page and saw this above.

It was changed since Oct 2023 but everyone still received the approval by post afterwards.

That's great congratulations. Still didn't receive it . I hope the postman didn't deliver it to wrong address as they do sometimes.

Thanks. I guess they just start sending approval letters in batches, just like how they did for e-vettings (and not in any particular order), so hopefully you will get it in the near future !

Hopefully! I have a feeling that I will get it in the next few days. They've probably sent the letters on Friday and there is a weekend ، so maybe it depends on the county you live in and how bad their postal service!

I checked some timelines for last year, not everyone received it the same day
