How much of cash can one carry

HI,
Can any one tell me

If there is any cash limit to GBP/INR one can carry while travelling to UK- Heathrow - Virgin atlantic airlines.

One of places I found cash equivalent of 10,000 USD

Can any one confirm. I plan to take say 1000- 2000 GBP.

Would this be Ok

You can bring as much as you want provided you can show it is lawfully yours and obtained legitimately. Otherwise up to 10000 Euro value with no proof.
