Confusion regarding BRP/BRC

Post by aartimehar » Sun May 19, 2024 11:20 am

So, I applied for my Naturalisation 2 week ago and in my application I was asked if hold a BRP. I stated No because I hold BRC under settled status scheme.

I have currently seen that the BRCs were discontinued in 2020 or 2021 so I'm assuming currently I hold BRP. I'm now worried if I should have stated yes that I have a BRP.

Please advise what can I do now?

Well, what do you hold? If you have a physical card, it should say at the top.

It says "RESIDENCE CARD" on the top of the physical card.

The thing is when I had applied for this card and when it was due to delivered, the email stated that "Your BRP is due to be delivered" and not the BRC.

I wonder if the people who apply for citizenship through settled status - what do they answer to the question in the application '" Are you able to provide Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) card with this application?

Did you provide details of your EUSS (it's a digital status of course)?
Did you provide a scan of your BRC card?
If that's the case there shouldn't be an issue, regardless of whether you selected no.
For peace of mind you could send an email to all these email addresses: viewtopic.php?p=2093594#p2093594 explaining.

Thanks for your help.
Would I also need to send a covering letter to a specific address?
I'm also happy to do that if it makes ore clear and easier.

No need for a formal letter.
Just an email to the addresses will suffice, state your personal details and application reference, and explain. Attach the BRC scan if you didn't upload it.

You should ask all your questions in your own thread. Just select the option that you have a BRP and you can explain in a cover note - as far as you show you satisfy the statutory requirements it's not a mistake in ticking a box that will invalidate your application.
