Child UK Passport Application from Pakistan

Post by Fes123 » Sun May 19, 2024 5:52 am

Hi,

Hope all is well

I am hoping someone can offer me some advice or any assistance would be greatly appreciated

I am born and bred in the United Kingdom (born in 1992). I got married in Pakistan in October 2022 and my wife gave birth to our first child in August 2023.

As a British citizens I applied for her UK Passport in Pakistan on the 07 November 2023 via Gerry’s Islamabad. They took the passport fees straight away and advised the application is in process. In January, they requested for more documents.

1) photos of me, my wife and my child from birth
2) GRANDMOTHER of Applicant Passport held at time of my birth (1992)

I was able to provide (1), however with (2) my mother had lost this passport (she suffers from Dimentia also) and was unable to provide but I managed to find passport copies of the page which has the photo and sent this.

The HMPO then replied to ask for the below:

PATERNAL GRANDMOTHERS PASSPORT SHOWING HER INDEFINITE LEAVE TO REMAIN STAMP HELD AT TIME OF MY BIRTH - THIS NEEDS TO BE THE FULL PASSPORT AND VACC STAMPED, we cannot accept any documents which are not VACC stamped.

I then sent a cover letter to explain the below

My mother has lost this passport and we are unable to find it. I attached my father and mothers current UK Passport numbers to see if there is anyway they are able to trace via this.

I re sent my fathers certificate of registration as a British Citizen which he acquired on the 07 June 1983

I re sent my mothers certificate of naturalisation which she acquired on the 30th of January 1996.

I re sent my own birth certificate to confirm I was born in the UK.

I have had no response and when I call up I am not getting any responses at all.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Can anyone offer any advice? Please help!

Thank you in Advance
F

In order for your child to be issued a British passport as a British citizen by descent, you need to prove that you are a British citizen otherwise than by descent.

Mere birth in the UK is not enough. You need to prove that either one parent was settled in the UK at the time of your birth too.

If your father was registered in the UK before your birth, send across the following.

(a) Your own birth certificate
(b) Your parents marriage certificate (because before 2007, only children born to a married couple could claim British citizenship through the father)
(c) Your father's registration certificate

If you have neither your parents marriage certificate nor your mother's passport at the time of your birth, that may cause the child to be refused a British passport, because you can't prove that you were a British citizen otherwise than by descent.

Also note that any children born to this children (your grandchildren), if born outside the UK, will not automatically be British citizens. British citizenship extends automatically to only one generation outside the UK.

Also note that your children will need to preserve these documents above, because it will be the basis of their own and their descendants' claim to British citizenship.

Thank you for your response. I really appreciate it. I will need to travel back to Pakistan to be able to obtain my parents marriage certificate.

I will be doing another thread for the below but not sure if anyone can help. I applied for my wife Partners Visa to the UK on the 01 March 2024 and paid a priority fee of £500 and this was approved on the 29th March 2024. The visa expiry date was 01 June 2024. I applied for my daughters Appendix FM Child Dependancy visa as could not leave her there on her own, on the 08 April 2024, we done the Biometrics on the 18th April 2024, due to the glitch on the Gov.co.uk website they didn’t take the IHS fee with the application and I received an email on the 08 May requesting this and I paid this straight away. I was under the impression I would get a response for my daughter before my wife’s visa expired so I booked flights to travel to the UK with my wife and 9 months daughter on the 30th of May as needed to be back in the UK for work commitments too. I didn’t receive a response and didn’t want to lose out on the money paid for the flights, my wife’s mother agreed to look after our daughter (as I was under the impression we would get a response any time soon) and we can go back and collect our daughter. It has now been around 3/4 weeks since we have been in the UK with me and my wife ringing 3/4 times a day to make sure everything is ok with our daughter too. I called the UKVI who took down the details and advised this is well over the SLA’s and advised it will be an escalation process which takes 15 working days, I made this paid call on Thursday and today I have received the below email.

Dear (Daughters name),

Regarding Visa Application: GWF**********

For: (Daughters Name)

Apologies for the delayed response.

Prior to making a decision on an application a number of mandatory checks need to be completed to ensure that the statutory requirements have been satisfied. We aim to decide all applications at the earliest opportunity. However, the length of time taken to complete these checks is dependent on the individual circumstances of each case. These checks are essential in order to maintain effective immigration control, and cannot be compromised, despite any adverse impact upon our customer service.

We are unable to provide a timescale when these checks will be concluded and the case cannot be expedited unless there are exceptional circumstances. We will however conclude the case as soon as we are able to.

Thank you for your patience.

***** PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT reply to this email address, unless requested, this is a temporary situation and ALL responses will be immediately deleted ***

Please contact SITEL directly, Full details of how to contact UKVI by phone or e-mail, from both inside and outside the UK, can be found at https://www.gov.uk/contact-ukvi-inside-outside-uk

Has anyone been in a similar situation, or seen an email like this before - Is this a generic email? Is there any advice anyone can give me or any General help? Timeline for my daughters visa application as below:

Application Date: 08 April 2024
Biometrics Date: 18 April 2024
IHS Fee paid date: 08 May 2024
UKVI Call date: 20 June 2024
Received above email date: 24 June 2024

Thanks in advance

You have complicated things by having both a passport and visa application at the same time.

A British citizen, your child, cannot get a visa as they are not subject to immigration control.
