Do we compulsorily need visa for newborn in UK

Post by zealprashant » Mon Jun 03, 2024 9:55 am

Hello Friends,

Hope you all are doing well.

I need your advice on my changed circumstances as I am blessed with a baby boy on 02/04/2024.

I have few questions if you can help me to get the answers for them, please –

My wife is due for ILR in Jan 2025 and my new born will be eligible for British citizenship soon after that by law (if I am correct) now my questions are –
- Do we need to process the dependent visa for my new born for these 7-8 months period ? I have no plans to travel out of UK till that time.
- If we necessarily need visa for him then what can be the minimum duration of Visa we can apply ?
- Is it OK to make my new born my dependent (if visa required) and still will he be able to apply for British citizenship based on my wife’s ILR ?

Thank you so much in advance.

Newborn child's visa duration

Post by zealprashant » Fri Jun 07, 2024 9:41 am

Hello All,

I am applying dependent visa for my new born and my ILR is due in Jan 2025 however my current Visa is valid up to July 2026.

My questions -
Is it mandatory to apply visa for all remaining time of my current visa (Till July 2026) and pay IHS for 2 years ?
If above is true then can I apply for IHS refund once my child's citizen is sorted after my ILR ?

Need advice on this urgently as I need to finish the application due to my planned travel.

Thank you very much in advance.

The child's visa will have the same expiry as your visa. You can't choose less time to suit you.
