7 Years route visa for child

Post by chkrishna » Wed Jun 05, 2024 3:28 pm

Hello,

My son has been living in UK from 2015 March (9 years 3 months). Currently he is in Year 13 and will be starting his University program in Sep'24. He will be completing 18 years in July'24.

All these years he has been on dependent visa (Tier 2 ICT, Tier 4 and Skilled Worker).

These are few questions, request to clarify.

1. Can we apply for 7 years route visa before he completes 18 years in July'2024 or can we apply after he completes 18 years?
2. If he is eligible to get 7 years rout visa, whether he will get limited leave to remain (1 to 3 years??) or is he eligible to get ILR?
3. Any idea on how long it will take to process this visa? Can we get this done in days/weeks time applying under priority / super priority service?
4. If he gets ILR, can both parents change their current visas (Skilled Worker and Skilled Worker Dependent) and become dependent to his visa?

Thanks,
Krishna

Why have you as a family not applied for ILR?

Hello Frontier Mole,

We are eligible to apply for ILR under 10 years route only.

Krishna

The 7 year route does not apply as you as a family are under a visa route that leads to ILR in a five year period if you remain under skilled worker. As your son is currently a dependent he can continue to be so after he turns 18 as long as he is solely dependent on the main visa holder financially and for accommodation- even if he goes to university.

There is no quicker route to ILR for any of the family.
