Timeframe for ILR- Workpermit based

Post by ckmanoj » Thu Nov 27, 2008 12:46 pm

Hi All
Does anyone know what is the time frame for ILR application based on workpermit. I have applied on 1st october and have not heard anything except acknowlegment that they have got my application. My friend applied at same time but based on marrige to UK citizen. He has already been contacted due to lack of documents. So should I believe no news is good news? When I called to enquire agent said they cant tell me anything till 14 weeks? Please help

Hi,
I had send my application on 10 Nov and rang today as it has been 2 weeks and i was told the same that its taking around 3 -14 weeks and that they cannot advise of the status of the application till that time.

Manu have you had any other letter except the acknowledgement ?

Nope no other communication from Home office. So just keeping finger cross. I should have just used premium service, I regret sending it by post now.

Yes I will post as soon as I hear anything. I will wait till next year and then give them a ring. My advise to anyone who is thinking of applying by post is avoid if you can.

Can anyone with positive experience with postal application give us some confidence?

thank you for your response. i applied in the first week of november.
when u would complete five years? it is important, because the outcome of your application depends on it.

Mabsa,
What do you mean that the outcome of the app would depend on when i compkete 5 yrs. i always thought that u could apply 4 yrs and 11 months which i did. anyhow i have completed my 5 yrs on 6 dec 2008 .
can you shed a light as to what you actually meant?

Hi Surby
Called them yesterday but according to them its 13 weeks so will have to call next week. They start counting from day fees is taken from your account.

Masba how does your time you have stayed affects in processing application? When I applied I was 5yrs and 4 months on work permit and 4 yrs on student visa before that. Will this be a problem?

Anyway one more week to wait.

Hi Manu,
Thanks a lot for the update. Well i guess you have waited long enough , so i am assuming a mere week wont make a difference, but what i am really eager to hear is what will they say when the 14 weeks are over. i hope they just dont say its processing and shall be with u shortly ..coz typically thats being very vague !
best of luck buddy and keep us all posted !

some people apply early. 2 or three months before competing five years. this is called pre mature application for ILR. some time home office keep their application until they complete five years. but your case is different you already have completed five years. but it is strange that you are still waiting.

Need Advice - Whether Business Visa is counted toward 5 Yrs?

Post by gautam_309 » Wed Jan 07, 2009 12:18 am

Hello Guys,

I needed an advice from you all, as you have applied for PR could you please tell me whether time spent in UK on Business visa is counted towards 5 year period or not.

If yes or even in case answer is no could you please refer me to link on Home Office Website.

Thanks in advance

Hi Gautam,
The time spent on biz visa is not counted since you are applying for PR under the work permit or HSMP scheme ..so you have to be on either of those. i myself spent nearly 5 months on biz vis before switching on the WP.

Guys
I was getting a bit impatient so thought I will try my luck again today with HO. Guess what it worked they told me about my application.....
But what...."your application is underconsideration...." nothing else no timeframe.... what to do next....just wait wait wait......
:x :x :x

I just cant understand what is taking them so long...
I asked what if need to go on holiday....or emergency then will need to withdraw my application, loose my application fees and then re apply.

thats pretty bad...i mean they have had the app for 3 months now and its still under consideration. did u asked whether someone has actually looked at it yet or does "under consideration" means it is yet to be looked at.
its a big problem for me, coz my current visa runs out on 30 march 09, although i complete 14 weeks on 10 feb..but if they do the same..what shall i do ??

They did said it is with a case worker.... nothing more....
i am safe on visa side as my original work permit was for 4 yrs and then my employer got it extended for 5 yrs so I have visa till 2011.... but I need to go to india before summer, now cant book my tickets till I know when I will have my passport.

well i have just looked at the acknowledgement letter that they send it. it clearly states that the case has been passed on to a case worker, so whatever you have been told is literally of no use.
what is ur plan now ..will u call again shortly ?
