eVisa and naturalisation in progress

Post by VirtualWaver » Wed Jun 26, 2024 5:03 pm

Hi Guys,

My wife applied for naturalisation last month and had her biometrics appointment last week.

Now, her ILR expires at the end of December 2024 and she already got 2 emails asking to apply for eVisa.

Shall she apply or wait for the naturalisation decision?

If apply, does she need to contact HO to advise her naturalisation application caseworker she now got a new ILR eVisa as her submitted ILR card will be effectively invalidated?

If doesn't need to apply now, will there be issues if she will apply later in case if her application will be rejected?

What if her application will take much longer than 6 months?

Not sure what's the best action would be. Thanks.

Her ILR won't expire, just her BRP. Keep a copy of the BRP just in case, but go ahead and apply for the eVisa just in case the application takes longer than expected. She won't need to inform UKVI that she is applying for the eVisa account, it won't impact her naturalisation. Naturalisation and eVisas are completely separate, as naturalisation comes under nationality, not immigration.
