Im on an ILR for nearly 2 years now and unfortunately i'm out of a job for the last 3 months and I now need to claim universal credit as im running out of savings
what I like to know is that my rent to a private landlord is £860 (HMO) ,will I be able to claim the full rent and can i claim additional expenses for food and transport,if so how does it work?

You are no longer under 'Immigration control' and are free to claim any benefits which you may be entitled to as a settled person.

Contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB). They will give you all the information you need and the advice is free.

Private rented property is subject to the Local Housing Allowance (LHA) limit, which is calculated from the number of bedrooms you are entitled to and the rate for that area. To calculate bedroom entitlement see - https://lha-direct.voa.gov.uk/bedroomcalculator.aspx and for the rates, see - https://lha-direct.voa.gov.uk/ In England, if single and under 35 (and not exempt) the LHA rate payable is the shared accommodation rate, rather than the one bedroom rate. UC housing element will be the LHA rate or the rent amount, whichever is lower.
