Documents for first British passport

Hi all,

Apologies if this has been answered before.

My question is, do I need to send them my current foreign passport when I apply for my first British passport or only my old passport which I used to come to the UK?

I'm asking because my current passport is with the Ireland embassy as I applied for a visa a couple of weeks ago and still waiting for my passport to be sent back to me.

I would appreciate your thoughts.

You need to send your current and all uncancelled passports. They are mandatory documents.

Thanks. So I don't need to send my old/expired passports, only the current one.

You need to send all passports that have not been cancelled (usually stamped cancelled) and clipped on the corners, this is different to just an expired passport, in addition to your current passport.
