Who and When my Family Members can Apply?

Post by mashafy » Sat Aug 17, 2024 12:20 am

Hello

Thank you to all the moderators for their great efforts. This is one of the greatest forums I ever subscribed to.

I got my ILR 13 months ago and I applied for the naturalisation this week. My wife and 3 children (2 over 18 and one 16 years old) got their ILR 4 months ago.

If I get approval before they complete 12 months from getting their ILR, can they apply directly or do they have to wait until completing the 12 months? I heard that my wife can apply directly as a spouse of a British but what about the children? Can they apply with my wife in the same application or do they have to submit individual applications as they are over 18?

Thank you in advance

Wife can apply immediately as you are BC ( if you have attended your ceremony by then).
The over 18 children will have to meet the requirements as adults.

Thank you for the response.

This means that my over 18 children have to wait until completing 12 months from the ILR. Isn't it?

And can my 16-year-old child apply with my wife?

They will have to meet all the same requirements as you; the absences and physical presence requirements, the one-year-after-ILR requirement, and also the English language and LITUK requirements.

Thank you very much to you all for the responses.

A final question, is it better for the two children over 18 to submit a shared application or do they have to apply individually if they both meet all the requirements?
