CSEP Ireland clarification regarding SOC 3542

Post by grogbog » Tue Aug 20, 2024 11:29 pm

Hi there! Hoping to gain some sort of clarity guidance, even if it may not be a definitive response.

I am currently in the process for applying for a CSEP in Ireland, but unsure as to whether or not the role that I am applying for would fulfil the criteria for a CSEP under the skilled occupations list.

The role is in medical devices (orthopaedics) and would be a sales manager role. The closest I could see would be under the SOC 3542, but the main thing throwing me off is the inclusion of “specialising in international sales”. Whilst there may be elements of international duties (N. Ireland and UK) it would predominantly be domestic based.

I am *just* under the threshold of 64,000 euro unfortunately, but bonuses put me over it which I understand would not make me eligible for jobs outside of the occupations list if I’m not mistaken?

Any help would be great.

Thank you

I'd say you qualify for this.

You can highlight the international sales or ITB2B element in your qualification / education.

I applied as ACCA. The relevant SOC 2421 mentioned specialising in "tax, compliance, regulation, solvency or financial management or related and relevant specialist skills, qualifications or experience."

I highlighted the exams I took in financial management and included the fact in the "required qualification / experience" section of the job offer letter.

Maybe you could ask the employer to add international or ITB2B elements to the offer letter.

Sorry I should expand on the code itself, I can't make out if it is applicable to other English speaking countries? Or even with countries that are members of the EEA

" Business sales executives specialising in International Sales Roles or ITB2B sales roles and with fluency in the official language, apart from English, of a state which is not a Member State of the EEA"

It may apply to other EEA countries as well that have an official language other than English. Language doesn't seem to be very clear. I'd say maybe run it by a CSEP specialist solicitor just to check if you qualify.
