How long does it take to get the first time passport application?

Estimated issue date: 12/09/2024

15/08/2024 and currently: Processing application: We have received your supporting documents. We are now verifying these documents.
14/08/2024: Alert: We have received your application. You must submit your supporting documents to proceed with the application.

Documents sent:

Originals of:

• Identity verification form
• Passport (Non-EU passport)
• Naturalisation Certificate
• Driving Licence (I kept a copy of it in my phone incase get stopped by guards)
• Public Service Card (never had any use for it so didn't mind sending in the original)
• Birth Certificate

Copies of:
• Bank Statement
• Letter from Department of Social Protection
• Letter from The Revenue Service

I know i sent them more than they asked for but had to make sure that i get the passport on time, it took me 2 years to get the Naturalisation certificate and I have to travel to UK in October.

just a small update.
i think they only looked at my application today, exactly 1 week before their estimated issue date :

The only reason I could see of my application being processed so early is “possibly” because I sent everything possible in original and also had requested them to process it fast if possible (a very polite request )

I think that sending originals is key to quick processing. Unfortunately KyukChick sent copies of statements etc. so they may not be sufficient as proof of address without some verification. (A Driving Licence doesn't neccessarily have the correct address.)

We will see how my application and others progress but it does look like a 3 week delay before they process, and if all documention is good then they will issue the passport straight away.

I strongly believe that the processing was fast because of the original documentation I provided. It is really on the applicant to ensure they cover up for possible delays by giving them every document in (original) that they think can be reason for delay, if not given part of initial application - This is what I think from my experience and reading others experiences.

I received the Passport today , awaiting delivery of passport card and Original documents.
as per the letter, original documents will be posted within 15 days.

They are accurate in terms of the issue date for passport unless they ask you for more documents. The trick is to send them the originals that they ask for, i overdid it by sending the originals of my driving licence and Public Service card which was unnecessary (Now i hope they haven't lost it).

I wouldn't say they're accurate on the tracker at all. I sent them the same set of documents before you applied, and they are still stuck processing the application. To be honest, it all depends on the officer; the majority of them are lazy, which causes delays!!

Also, I keep calling them every day in the hopes that they will ask for more documents, but they always check the notes in the system and say there are no more documents needed from you. Sheer laziness!

Yes, they do, and advisors can see if an email has been triggered. I was told today that my passport is in the final stages of processing, and that they will only need to check my original passport and will not require any additional documentation. They said it's been 6 days and it's only a matter of time before they move me to the printing stage. Fingers crossed!

I was told that the officer only starts looking at the docs a week before due date.

Hopefully you will hear something back soon! 3 hours after I contacted this morning, the status is now 'Printing' so it was worth having a chat with them this morning, I just politely asked for a follow up and they did it!

We submitted the online application on 17 August.
But then it took us a while to get the supporting docs to them because we’re in France. Our status changed to “Verifying” on 27 August.
And then yesterday it changed to “Processing”.
