Can we apply extension of skilled worker visa without CoS

Hi Guys,
Has anyone come across the situation where skilled worker visa extension application without CoS? If yes, can you please provide me the details. Currently, my employer is facing issue of delays from Home office for CoS application and my visa is expiring soon. So need some suggestions/advices. Thanks.

If you apply without a cos and it is processed, your application will be refused. You are required to put the cos detail in the application form.

Why has your employer left it so late to get a cos?
