Ceremony question after approval

Post by iibdii » Thu Sep 26, 2024 5:13 am

Hi all, I got my approval on 23rd sept. Contacted council (Lisburn & Castlereagh) and they booked me mid November.
I asked if I can book pvt ceremony they said we don't do pvt,
Problem is it's only council in whole country (NI) who does ceremonies do I have any chance / options of getting a it done sooner or just wait 7 weeks.
Just feels wrong.

Secondly my current non EU passport has been expired last month, when I apply for British passport do I need to provide a valid passport or expired one would be enough?

Any input is appreciated
Many thanks

You don’t need a valid foreign passport to get your first British one. It’s for checking consistency of names being used, not a condition for getting BP.

Ceremony: if that’s the only option then there’s nothing else we can suggest. Ceremonies are administered by councils not the Home Office and there aren’t any quick alternatives.
