How long does it take to get the first time passport application?

Out of curiosity, how often do you all check your status? I'm trying to limit myself to once every evening. Otherwise I'll go nuts.

The evidence I have pieced together suggests that they refresh the status once every 2 hours or so.
So that's what I do. Check every 2 hours LOL.

Nope, nothing. The estimated issue date is today and it’s still stuck on Processing.
They haven’t indicated they need more documents. Or that there’s a problem with the photo. But I don’t think they’ve contacted our witness because he said he would let me know when he heard from them. Perhaps they haven’t even looked at the application yet.

The worst part is that the tracker won't update anymore. Maybe you should call them and ask what's going on with your application?

going to request my original passport back

Requested the passport to be posted back on Thursday, and it arrived today (Friday) together with all my other documentation I submitted to them, so they were quite quick with that, at least.

Name change submitted to my country of origin, will hopefully get a new birth certificate and passport in November and then submit all the paperwork again, I think my passport application doesn’t expire until January or so (should be active for five months I was told), hopefully the second time around it will be easier.

It's all very well asking people for a second government-issued photo ID but I wonder what, say, British people living in Northern Ireland are supposed to do, if they don't have a driving licence. Normally their only such form of ID would be their UK passport.

I just got my passport in post. Can’t believe it for those who are wondering re timelines - I submitted on August 30th, status changed to processing on September 23rd. And then September 27th - printing, and in couple of hours it changed to dispatched. Both passport and card were delivered today.
Now I just need to do the same for my minor daughter, can’t wait to go through this process again

It is tracked mail, but you don't get a tracking number given to you IIRC - they just arrive. Passpott Office has it, though, in case they get lost/etc.

Thanks, Helen. I believe it would be acceptable for English people in Northern Ireland to provide only their passports, as they can easily check them with border control. I don't think they'd ask for any additional documents. Is there any movement on your application?

Has anyone been asked for additional documents AFTER their estimated issue date?
Ours has come and gone. We’re still stuck on Processing but have had no email to indicate there’s a problem. I did chat with a customer service agent yesterday and he said he would ask the team to speed things up.

Sorry to hear this! I can only imagine how frustrated you must be. The DFA passport application assessors could sure use some guidance around consistency. I am considering dropping in a complaint after my application is completed.

I actually did not receive a tracking number for the supporting documents. I received it via express mail.
