How to surrender the Indian passport and the OCI

I need help to get the OCI card.

I understand that surrendering the passport is necessary to apply for an OCI card.

Can someone please guide me in a step-by-step process?

I have just applied for my British passport - shall I start these processes before getting the British Passport?

Step 1: You need to submit your Indian passport to apply for Biritish Passport as proof of identity
Step 2: After you receive your British passport, you can surrender your Indian Passport. You need to submit copy of your British passport
Step 3: After receiving you surrender certificate, you can apply for OCI

asking this below;
Applicant's passport details;

which passport details should I be giving? The India passport and previous passport details, right?

The list I provided is generic list of documents will vary based on Individual case.
For you I hope the below documents should be enough below needs to upload and submit copy at VFS

1. Naturalization Certificate
2. British Passport
3. Spouse Passport
4. Marriage Certificate
5. Surrender Certificate
6. Indian Passport(Front and Back Page)
7. Address proof(DL or utility bills)
8. Two photos to submit at VFS
