Renewing Visa's when on Travel Documentation

Post by Ramsay » Tue Jan 20, 2009 12:44 pm

Wife is on a 2 year FLR (M) visa (expires Aug 2010) after entering on a Fiancee visa. The good lady is a Tibetan travelling on a Nepali travel doc.

The Travel Document expires end of March and are only issued for 12 month periods.

The visa wasn't attached to the travel doc but to a Home Office headed letter.

When I asked at the Visa centre the lady who checked our docs said we wouldn't need a current one when we apply for the next visa in 2010. However, the boy who issued the visa gave a 5 minute speach which can be summarised basically as he didn't know.

Looking on the Nepali embassy website it says we'll need flight tickets to renew the travel document but we have no intention of actually travelling.

The long and short of it is - do we actually need a current travel document when it comes to renewing the visa?

Cheers in advance

Sorry in case of confusion:

Fiancee visa was attached to the travel doc but the FLR(M) was attached to a Home Office letter basically confirming her entitlement to work.
