Can I get married in Ireland living in Northern Ireland?

Post by Maria30 » Sun Jan 25, 2009 8:12 pm

Hi,

I was wondering if I can find a response for my question here.
My partner is Irish from Northern Ireland. We have been living together since 2007 in Northern Ireland.
Are we allowed to get married in Ireland even if we live in Northern Ireland? If so, What would be the procedure?
I have searched and it seems that we need to give 3 months notice for it.
Please advise if that would be possible when I have a visa in the UK only but as my country does not request visa for Ireland I guess It would not be a problem, would it?

Any response with correct information would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Maria

Yes, you can get married in Ireland. The link above sets out the details of how to go about doing so.

Once you decide where exactly you want to marry, contact the registrar for that area and they can give you more specific guidance.
