Any in-country approvals for Jan'09 applications yet? HomeOffice seem to be quite slow now:

Hsmp28... we cant say it is slow based on the waitingtimes link becos there are few cases who applied even after 24th Dec and got back they visa's approved lastweek just for ex: check the case of MP below...
I think we just need to be patience.. i know its very tough..

I got my visa this morning!
I sent in the application via Special Delivery on the 30th of December
They received it on the 31st of December
Payment was taken on the 3rd of January
Passport stamped on the 22nd of January
Docs and passport received on the 24th of January!
It was a very straight forward application and I made sure it was well organised so that is probably why it went through so quickly!
Best of luck to everyone waiting!

I guess they might have separate business team working on different cases, based on some criteria i.e. Initial Application/Extension Application
or Based on first/last name of main applicant etc.

This is what I think too.
Also, I imagine initial applications submitted within the UK may be processed faster than applications submitted outside the UK. Lots of variables.

Sad part is, UKBA now don't provide ANY information related to the application until 6 weeks are passed. Even after 6 weeks, there is very limited information they can provide. I had made a mistake in filling up the application form and realized after I sent the application. Sent a cover letter explaining the mistake but UKBA are reluctant to advise whether cover letter is linked to my application.

It's a pain in the proverbial really. I just wish that the UKBA operated slightly more transparently and were also a little more customer friendly and orientated.

Will be a miracle if they become bit more customer friendly. After all they are the govt officers.

It should be posted through to you. You will get a letter confirming that the money was deducted from your account and that the application will be passed on to a caseworker for consideration. Are you sure your mailing address was absolutely correct, etc?

Some time Home office doesn't send reference number, I am saying this based on my previous applications in 2004 and 2007. I never got any reference number but money was detected. In this case I think your Royal Mail reference number is your application ref number. Guys please rectify me if I am wrong.

No news yet because of the heavy snow. I think the caseworkers are working at Sheffield.
