"Application Date" definition

Post by nokeyak » Mon Jan 26, 2009 8:41 pm

Hi there..

Regarding to the Naturalisation as a British Citizenship Guide, the "application date" is the date on which the application is received by the Home Office.

Can you advise me whether the "application date" is the date that the application was delivered to Home Office (shown on Royal Mail tracking system) or the date in the receipt of acknowledgement letter or other date?

Thank you very much..

Paragraph 34G of the Immigration rules deals with this. In your case, it's the date of posting - presuming all required documents were sent correctly, of course!

Paragraph 34G of the Immigration rules is not applicable for naturalisation applications.

[quote="Chapter 6: General Information > Chapter 6"]6.3.4 What is the date of application?

6.3.4.1 The date of application is the date of its receipt by the appropriate “receiving authorityâ€

If you sent it off by registered/special delivery post, then it's probably the date on which the receiver signed for it.
