Well I had the ref number given by vfs..so I logged on to vfs-uk.co.in -> track application status..key in ur ref number and DOB..thats it

Waiting...
Status (as of 27-Jan )shows that "Documents were frwdd to BHC of 13-Jan"
Can anybody share the different statuses ... I mean the life cycle.. I guess the initial status is "Documents were frwdd to BHC on .."
Sorry, I can't answer your question about the different stages of processing, but would you mind telling me how you found out what the status of your application is? If it was by calling UKBA, how were you able to get a response (I was told that my application had not been received within 6 weeks, therefore they weren't able to give me any information about it)?
Many thanks in advance!
Application received by UKBA: 24 December
Payment taken: 29 December

Thanks for your reply. I'm applying from with the UK - so direct to the UKBA who do not appear to have an equivalent service.

I have come across other posts where people who got a similar response have been waiting for months for the decision now.
Call them again and ask what it means. Stick to your question until you get satisfactory response. It's their duty to tell/explain you the status if 6 weeks elapsed. I hope your call is received by experienced customer support person this time.
Good Luck!!

Hi All,
Congrats Sapient!
Guess this is my first posting here and have been following this thread ever since I applied. It seems to me that people applying from India get a decision on their application much quicker than those applying within the UK. Also, they seem to have much better services (Application traking, emails etc) Is this the case? Has anyone got a similar quick decision while applying within the UK?
My Application details:
Posted by Royal Mail Special Delivery on: 02 January 2009
Received by Home Office on: 05 January 2009
Payment Processed on: 05 January 2009
Confirmation Letter posted to wrong address on: 05 January 2009
Received confirmation letter from the incorrect addressee (which was opened, and I assume read): 08 January 2009
Called Home Office to correct the address on: 14 January 2009

Called them today. Got through on second try and after being on hold for 8 minutes.
Am applying for HSMP tier 1. First application.
They received it 18 Dec. It's still being processed. They said that's all they could tell me.
Will keep you all posted.

Thats great news, congrats.
So it tool about 7 weeks for you to get your Tier1. When did they actually gave the date on the visa? Do you have any idea what took it a bit longer than others?
Thanks

Hey Friends,
Got my Tier 1 visa stamped yesterday by courier. Had applied to the Deputy High Commission, Mumbai on the 16th of Jan, 2009. Was amazed at the speed with which my application was processed.

Hi ,
I have my daughter's visa in Jan. The application was received by ukba on 19th jan 2009. The payment is not deducted yet. Wondering why its taking long to get the payment deducted (15 days gone past). Generally it is done within 4-5 days of the the receipt of application. Is there anyone who is in the same boat as mine.
How to know the status of my application in the light` that initial payment is ywet not deducted. Please help.
hsmp28122006, did ypu have yr payment deducted ?

Just wondering what form of payment you used. Best to call them and query this as sometimes the payment doesn't go through if you have used a card. It should normally be deducted within 3-5 days once the application reaches them.
Also, you might want to call the card issuer and inform them about the impending payment

I have used debit card. My bank has confirmed me that they have not received any debit request yet from UK BA
I have used debit card earlier for other applications with UK BA all of them were sucessful. Any idea how to now know the status of my application as it has not crossed even the first step of processing.
Is there any chance that they have misplaced our application? Its was a Tier1 dependant application
