No that doesn't count as an offence.

I am really confused now. Applied October 2006 for LTR, 2 months after Naturalisation. Received letter today that my LTR is approved. I really wonder sometimes if this country is for real. Still no news on Naturalisation. Send P21 on 29 November 2008.

None what I was aware of. I only had to provide a Police Clearance in October 2008. I cannot even remembered applying for LTR.

When someone tells you they are processing lets say March 07 it means they are starting initial processing for that month. the actual processing can take several months, for all the requested documents to come back, for all the reports to be submitted, etc. And of course, while the section is waiting for the reports or documents they are starting processing other applications. Therefore, application from lets say October 2006 is finalized while March 2007 is only starting to be processed. Actual processing time for naturalisation applications is longer, because it involves more documents, more checks probably, the need for ministers actual decision, then the oath and the actual cert, etc. and of course, they have more applications than LTR.

Hi All ,

I apllied for Citizenship in April 2008 and is married to a Irish National. I rang this morning to get an update on the status of my apllication and I was informed by the lady that processing has started on my application.

What does "processing has started" mean?

Same here. They say that it takes usually 3-6 months to get garda verification done. There is a significant backlog and it may take around 2 months to clear it. For majority of cases, the application is stuck at this point.

Wondering if we need to start a new thread - Garda Enquiry Tracker.

same answer: there is a big backlog and they were promised by the Garda to clear it in the next 4-6 weeks according to their meeting with the garda office representatives that was held 2 weeks ago... I'd say they'll be all posted back to Tipperry as a batch at the end of Feb :(... though in the mean time, let's keep each other update if any news anyways.

I called them on last Tuesday

the reply was as many already-told they r waiting for garda clearance and its going to take 2-4 months

and the reply they sent when I mailed them was pretty standard: "your application is in progress we'll inform you when a decision is made".

I have applied in Dec 2005 and got letter for my birth-affidavit on July 14, thats it there is no news after that...

Folks,

I received a letter asking additional documents [payslips, p21, and bank statement], last week they told me that my app was with the garda. This is now confusion!!!

Anyone know after sending them those docs [payslip, p21, bankstatement] how long they take before decion?

Also may I ask if anyone got rejected after this point?

Thanks

Anotherimmigrant,

Thank you, I have not applied for this before, I probably will now look for an alternative means, my patience is now running thin!

Is this the second time they're asking for those docs?

Not really. Usual random stuff!
In my case and most other cases they've asked for those extra docs before the police cert, in your case it appears to be in reverse order. I wouldn't read too much into it, it's their general chaotic way of doing things!

@cnu,
yes they ask for these documents if your processing is done at Tipperary.

For those whose processing was done in Dublin(mainly applicants who have applied until 2005), they asked only for the birth and marriage affidavits.

applying on the basis of a minor means that you are applying for naturalisation for your child who is a minor. I believe you can only apply for your minor child to be naturalised once one of the parents has been naturalised.
