I've just received my visa in the post and thought I'd share my timeline. My degree is an MA from UCL.
Application sent 29 December 2008
Confirmation letter dated 30 December 2008
Document verification request sent to my (overseas) bank on 26 January 2009
Stamped passport received 3 February 2009
The stamp and letter are dated 30 January and I haven't had any post in two days because of the snow, so I think it was meant to arrive on Monday (I included Special Delivery postage). Either way, the whole thing took about 4.5 - 5 weeks.
Good luck to everyone who's waiting!

You need to find out if they have sent it first, and then get the recorded delivery number if they have.

Its crazy! Whenever we call up they say its under consideration. First they advertised about PSW to bring students in UK. Then they ask for huge fees. At the end, they kept us waiting for long time for PSW VISA. They even dont think about that our offer will not be there for infinite time. Its completely bureaucratic system. And there is no way to protest. Terrible!!

Hi! Have been waiting for 4 months now, employers don't want to risk hiring me until I get the passport back, even though I have a written confirmation from BA that anyone who applied before the expiry of their student visa(which I did) has a right to work full time while waiting for decision. I rang them to get the usual 'require further consideration' and on my question whether there are any time limits for them to consider, had a reply - no, asked can it take a year than? They repeated - no time limits. Is that true? Don't we have a legal right to know the maximum lenght of this torture?
Thanks.

I wonder - Where is media here? Don't they see the suffering of young graduates? In today's competitive world 2-3 months gap is huge in a career. I see many guys are even waiting for 4-5 months. Why do these people play with our career? Dont you think this is heights of injustice? And, I still see Universities are attracting foreign students in the name of PSW.

I think we should note a complaint to the border and immigartion agency, and need to give them a advise that nothing else but make sure they should update all PSW application the current progress and the exact waiting times.

My friend has recently applied for PSW Tier 1 visa by post. He has completed Master's degree from one of the UK University. Has anyone applied for PSW recently after completing a degree? Could you please share the waiting time?

Hi everyone.
I just wanted to ask anyone that how long is the processing time for PSW if applied in from delhi, India. I just graduated this december 2008 from University of London(Masters degree).
And I just want to ask another question? - If I have the minimum for the maintainance funds in a savings account in my own country, but no transactions in it? I can get a letter from the bank stating that I have the relevant money for the period needed as obviously it was there for tha time.
Will this be a problem?
