Student Visitor to PSW- Please advice

My friend has applied for student visa extension while waiting for his result (since his visa was running out). After few weeks of making that application, HO has asked him to provide the result if he has got it. In the meantime he has got his result and has send that result to HO. He is now waiting to hear from HO.

Since he is now waiting for grduation ceremony, would HO give him student visa or student visitor?

If they give him student visitor, then would he able to switch to PSW (Post study work) in-country?

PSW, if his results are confirmed and awarded or it will be the caseworkers discretion.

If he applied for a visitor visa then he would have return home to obtain entry clearence.

What happens if he now apply for PSW while the other application is still undecied? If we ask HO to condider the PSW aaplication instead of student visa, would HO refuse both the application?

If the PSW visa application was made before the expiry date of his current student visa then there is a possibility that he can cancel his previous application (visitor visa). You can request the home office to consider the PSW visa in this case.

However, if his student visa is already expired when the PSW was lodged then his visitor visa application would be considered. In any case you can cancel this and return home with/without the visitor visa and apply for the PSW visa from there.
