EEA family permit vs EEA2 residence card

Post by ken00 » Wed Feb 18, 2009 1:43 pm

I'm an American and my fiance is Italian. We will be married in Italy. He is already working in London.

Is it possible to bypass the EEA family permit and directly apply for the EEA2 residence card?

I know the first one is applied for outside the UK and the second one is applied for within the UK. The list of supplementary documents on the applications is almost identical.

You are a non-visa national so I don't see any problems coming to the UK.

As 86ti said you do not have any problem getting in UK and can apply for residence once you here.

EEA family permit is only for people who can NOT come to UK without visa. Once they are here then they can apply for residence card.
