Tier 1 PSW Visa-when to apply for Tier 1 general

Hi,
I have got Tier 1-PSW visa for two years; however I want to change my Visa to Tier 1 General.
Can I apply now for tier 1 general if i have got extension for two years?
Can anybody advice whether I should apply for Tier 1 general visa now or I should wait until my current PSW visa is expired?

Any advice will be appreciated
