Come on !Spear wrote:Here we go again !!. This time applicants after Nov 2006 have no legal recourse since they signed a declaration saying they will abide by rule changes and do not assume extension rules will be the same in the future.
Like last time I expect the HO to make extension applicants abide by the new rules as well. Every highly skilled worker who has to leave the country opens a job for a Brit. Remember Brits are the Governments main concern. They are the ones who vote. A short term solution is the Governments aim now.
I expect the new points table to look like this:
The points awarded for previous earnings
You can score up to 45 points for your earnings. The points awarded for salaried employment or self-employed earnings are:
Previous earnings Points
£16,000 - £17,000 0
£18,000 - £19,999 0
£20,000 - £22,999 5
£23,000 - £25,999 10
£26,000 - £28,999 15
£29,000 - £31,999 20
£32,000 - £34,999 25
£35,000 - £39,999 30
£40,000 + 35
The points awarded for qualifications
The points awarded for qualifications are:
Qualifications Points
Phd 50
Master's 35
Bachelor's 0

The qualification and minimum salary levels for Indian and non-EU professionals will be raised to masters degree and 20,000 pounds from the current requirement of undergraduate degree and 17,000 pounds.
Why? The changes don't come in until April, if you apply by feb you will be judged under the current set of rules.. Then you at least get 2 years until you have to apply again, by then who knows how the rules will have changed.bluecanvas wrote:Certainly, a very bad news for prospective applicants. I was planning to apply for Tier 1 by the end of Feb, but now i have started to think over it again and again.
Yeh I'm going to need to hear that a few more times, and read it on the Home Office website before I'm completely comfortable with that. But it's a positive step in the right direction. fingers crossed!ssoct98@hotmail.com wrote:Good news,
No need to worry guys, just spoken to WP,and they said it is not affected anyone inside the uk,only for those who are applying for ist time,as Hsmp replaced by Tier 1,so they are extending its stay.
According to him they receive a notice today that resident not affected only new applicant are affected.
so Relax.
Yeah you are right we need to hear this from other members as well...I will never believe what the agents say over the phone as they dont give a damn about what they are taking about.waz1234 wrote:Yeh I'm going to need to hear that a few more times, and read it on the Home Office website before I'm completely comfortable with that. I'm 99% sure you get judged on the critera at the time of when you submit your application, not when they get around to processing your application.shammi wrote:Hi all, I hope any of these changes purported to be enforced from 1st April'09 wont cast any harm on people like me applying in March'09 who hold a Bachelor's degree and meet the current PBS eligibility points.
My concern here is that if my application processing falls beyond 1st April then would it in mean any difference to how it would be looked at to how it would have been looked at if no changes were coming.
Don't forget you already had HSMP, so switching to Tier1 from HSMP is considered to be the same route unless you are switching from Tier2,tier3...to tier1.nionlight wrote:confusedhsmp wrote:I just spoke to the Home Office work permit
I personally think it only affects people
1. who are applying for the first time to enter under Tier 1
2. AND, people who are switching their category to Tier 1from within UK.[/quote]
it means all of us. it doesnt eclude any one. because all we HSMP holders, when we need to extand ous visa, we will have to switch to Tier 1 category, which is a new category. so it means every one is effected by this.. what a shock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
