ILR workpermit or Tier

hi all

i booked my ILR appointment by phone a few months ago and its due next week. when i downloaded the SET (O) form it says that tier 1 and 2 are not allowed to apply in person. what i understand is that tier 1 and tier 2 are new names of HSMP and workpermit etc. so does this mean that my appoint is now void and I need to apply by post? just confused by this tier1 and 2 thing

From April 6th 2009, the PEO will start taking appointments for other categories eg TIER1. You can reschedule your appointment so that you attend on or after 6/4/09 and save time and heartaches of applying by post. You need to phone them NOW to get the earliest appointment.
