Switching while still a student

I'm a masters student here on student entry clearance, due to hand in her dissertation at the end of August, and I will graduate officially in December. However, I have a job offer (which would start in September), which I can't currently accept under my student entry clearance. I'm trying to figure out my options.

Can I switch to another visa category while I'm still studying? I would need to apply in the summer, which would still leave me with another month or two as an active student (and about 5 or 6 months technically still as a student, before I graduate)

The company is willing to offer sponsorship, and I'm eligible, but I'm not sure I can do this (or any other switches) while still a student....anyone know?
