Spelling mistake in Marriage Certificate

Post by UKTier1March » Mon Mar 16, 2009 12:48 pm

Hi, Iam applying for tier 1 next week along with my wife and 1 kid from UK. In my marriage certificate, there is an additional 'H' mentioned in my wife's name...instead of XXTAXXX its XXTHAXXX. While applying for Work Permit dependent visa a year ago in India, I had obtained an affidavit from the notary to certify that its a mistake and it should be read as XXTAXXX.

But at the same time, my wife's name is endorsed in my passport correctly.

So could you please tell me ?

1. Will my marriage certificate be considered as an evidence even though my wife's name is correctly endorsed in my passport ?

2. Can I submit the affidavit, obatined in India from the Notary an year ago ?

3. WOuld it be beneficial if I submit some additional proofs as 'Council Tax receipts', 'Rental Agreement' etc where my wife's name is mentioned correctly ?

Please help me.

Thanks in advance.

To what i feel.. you should be fine as long as you mention these details on the cover letter and supply the old affidavit along with original Marriage Certificate. Since you have already been issued WP (dependent) on the same set of documents, HO should have the details.. and hence no issues...

Others.. please suggest...

You should be fine. Just explain all this in cover letter.
If you want to put in more effort for peace of mind, it might be worth getting it attached from your home country HighCommission in the UK.

nksg and umanghere, thank you very much for your replies.

Umanghere, could you please explain on what you mean by 'getting it attached from you Home country HighCommission' ? Because Iam going to Indian High Commission office tomorrow. So if they could provide something, I could get it done...

Thanks in advance once again...
