Points for SPECIALIST position in IT

Post by lbfrancois » Sat Jul 09, 2005 5:34 pm

Hello!

My HSMP under 28 application was received by HO on May 24, the payment was cleared (demand draft), I have received my reference number, and now I'm waiting for a decision.

I claimed 50 points for Specialist experience. I work in IT, I am a Microsoft/Citrix specialist, I hold 8 information technology certifications (MCSE, MCSA, MCT, CCA, CCEA, CCI, CCSP). I have sent all my certificates along with reference letters from my employers covering a period of 4 and a half years in company letterhead paper.
I have also sent my current employer contract (which I have been working for the last 2 years) where I have a role of Analyst Specialist. My husband and I were required to open a limited company on the purpose of employment on our current job, so i also sent the corporate contract.
I have also included in my resume all the exams I had gone through to achieve this level of specialisation (36) from Microsoft and Citrix.
I also claimed points for past earnings.

I would like to know if anybody in IT field has also claimed points for specialist position and what the result was.

Thanks for sharing!

LBF.

Hi LBF

I did receive specialist points along with significant achievement points; for the last 5 years I specialise in information security and before that I was in networking. I don't know whether Microsoft/Citrix experience would be considered specialist; in my case although they accepted my work experience they didn't grant me points for 10+ certificates I hold - but I got enough points without having to receive points for education (I don't have degrees). Having said this certificates could serve as a sort of secondary evidence re work experience...

Dear IT specialists,
I regret to inform you that certifications do NOT count as either education nor as specialist. Experience and Management positions are what counts.

Sorry.

I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, BUT UNBOWED

I know it doesnt count point for education nor specialist position. But if you can back up your employer letters showing extensive experience in a specific area with extra evidences like certificates in this area that will help your claim.

I think we should provide always 2 evidences to back up our claims. And also it might help you to show that you will be able to find a job in your area of work once in uk, as those certifications are exactly the same there and anywhere else in the world.
