Whether or not she is self-employed, or employed, makes no difference as regards the possibility of claiming.

As more fully explained in the sticky topic, in this section of the Board, the two of them jointly are permitted to claim Tax Credits.

Of course the more income they have, the less Tax Credits they will receive.

thanks for your help.
they filled application form both section(applicant and partner) to the best of there knwolege and they recived first amount in to there joint account as well,
know satuation is amount came in two parts one is CTC and another one is WTC. on letter sent out to them by hm states CTC to mrs and WTC to husband. so he is counfused becz according to his visa he cant claim no funds. and mrs clearly mention that over phone and than also mention in application form that he is nder immigration control. what shall he do now? how it gona effect his ILR status?

according to his visa he cant claim no funds
Not so, the visa says "No recourse to Public Funds". "Public Funds" are defined in para 6 of the Immigration Rules, and make no attempt to include all types of benefit that might be paid.

Also, for a couple where one of them is not subject to immigration control, and the other one is, it is totally OK for them jointly to claim Tax Credits .... as already made clear in this section of this board.
