What does allowed to look for work exactly means?

Does it means that you are only allowed to search for work but not actually work? If yes, then that would mean that an employer can't simply hire you, the employer has to file work permit for you.

Post-study workers are free to look for work without having a sponsor for the length of their leave.

Please do not make it so complicated, it just simply means that PSW workers are ALLOWED to look (search) for work and CAN work for any employer for up to 2 years.

Ironically when it comes to UK Immigration anything which comes under the word "ALLOWED" tends to have healthy and positive meanings.

You are allowed to look for job in any sector.It does not have to be your study related.For example, if you are an engineer but you are a good stage actor as well.You are authorised to work in British theatre once you get PSW visa.No one can stop you.

That means after 2 years either leave the country (UK) or switch to other category normally HSMP

What is so complicated about the words 'allowed and 'can'? There is no catch to it and if you are so worried about there being a catch, I doubt a forum is the best place to find out. Call UKBA or see an immigration lawyer.

words mean a lot for the EMPLOYERS because they do not want to take chances. They would rather see the unambigious statment from home office confirming that they can hire PWS for full time 2 year spositions without sopnsorship.

An employer is ready to offer me job but does not want to sponsor. I told them that employerd can hire PWS holder for full time permanent vacancy without sponsorship but he asked me to show him proof of this. They said they rang the home office and home office said that they need to sponsor the candidate. They also said that they have read the following documents which mention that employers can hire students (part time 20 hours), hsmp visa (full time) but nowhere PWS visas has been mentioned.

I carefully read the documents suggesed by you but could not find any statment confirming that "employers can hire PWS for full time positions without sponsorship".

I think few of the people already explained this in depth and Please if you are still in doubt please contact HO directly or Hire a solicitor. Its not rocket science.

Have you contacted UKBA. Your employer seems to be the only one who doesn't know that a PSW holder won't need sponsorship. My advice to you is to contact UKBA for that information if they need it that much. I don't see anyone here explaining it any better for you or them to understand. PSW started in June 2008 and would not be in that pdf file you put up there, so you might need to point that out to your employer. Didn't any letter come with your visa?
