Dependant- Query

Can my wife show her own bank statement for maintenance of funds for 3 months. Or is it manadatory to have that money in my account only... kindly let me know

Your wife can show her bank statement for only her own maintenance. So if you are in the UK

1. she is supposed to show £533 in her account (or it can be from your account) - this is dependant's maintenance

2. you are supposed to show £800 from YOUR account (your wife's account cannot provide this) - this is main applicant's maintenance.

Main applicant maintenance must be from main applicant's bank account OR a joint account that includes the main applicant's name.

Thanks for your reply. I would like to tell you that right now i m in india and have recently applied for tier1. Can we use her account for maintenance (Dependant Maintenance)...
If yes, then do i have to provide any letter or additinal docs while applying a dependent visa....

She can use her own bank account or your own bank account to show that she has £1,600 for three months while you need to use YOUR OWN account to show you have £2,800 for three months.

If she is applying with you then you need to fill out an extra form for her - a dependant's form. You might also want to add your marriage certificate as well as bank statements. Also read through the guidelines on the UKBA website for any other docmentation that may be peculiar to your case.

Hi,

I dont think thats the rule which Flygirl has mentioned. The rule is you have to show 4400 pounds if the dependant is applying seperately and the main applicant has been in UK for less than 12 months. This money can be shown in dependants account. It is not mandatory to maintain 2800 pounds in the main applicants account and 1600 pounds in the dependants account. You can show 1 account. Apart from this the dependant has to show his tax proofs in india, relationship evidence, main applicants job details. This has been confirmed twice with VFS and UK ba.
